Vaibhav Sooryavanshi etched his name in history once again by breaking the record for the most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket during his 70-run knock off 68 balls for the U-19 Indian cricket team against Australia in Brisbane on Wednesday.
Vaibhav’s innings in the second India vs Australia game, played at the Ian Healy Oval, of the three-match series was studded with five fours and six sixes. His fourth maximum of the day took him past former India U-19 skipper Unmukt Chand’s tally of 38 from 21 matches.
Remarkably, Sooryavanshi, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, needed just 10 innings to set the new benchmark and has already extended his tally to 41 sixes.
The fearless 14-year-old left-hander brought up his half-century in 54 balls and looked in ominous touch before falling to Australian captain Yash Deshmukh. Sooryavanshi’s knock gave India U-19 a strong platform after the early dismissal of Ayush Mhatre, with the score reading 117/2 in 18.3 overs when he departed.
Among Indians, Yashasvi Jaiswal has the third-most maximums in Youth ODIs. Jaiswal, now a regular in the Indian cricket team and Rajasthan Royals, struck 30 sixes in the 27 Youth ODI matches.

This was Sooryavanshi’s second impactful innings of the series, coming on the back of a quickfire 38 off 22 balls in India’s seven-wicket win in the first ODI.
Earlier this year, Vaibhav finished as the highest run-scorer in the five-match India U19 vs England U19 Youth ODI 2025 series. He amassed 355 runs in five matches against England at an average of 71.00 and a staggering strike rate of 174.01.
Vaibhav’s 143 off 78 balls in the fourth Youth ODI against England made him the youngest centurion in the format’s history. He scored his century off just 52 balls, making it the fastest century ever in U19 Men’s ODIs.
He also took the cricketing world by storm when he made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants at the age of 14 years and 23 days.
Nine days later, Vaibhav became the youngest centurion in IPL history after smashing a 35-ball 100 against Gujarat Titans.
He finished IPL 2025 with 252 runs in seven matches at a blistering strike rate of 206.56, which earned him the Super Striker of the Season award.
