Dhruv Jurel struck an unbeaten 115 as India declared their first innings at 503/9 on Day 2 of the secondSL vs IND Test 2026 match at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Monday.
Jurel, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, reached his second Test century in 171 balls before finishing with 115 not out off 177 deliveries, an innings laced with nine fours and two sixes.
It was Jurel's first Test hundred outside India. His maiden century came against the West Indies in Ahmedabad last year, when he scored 125.
Resuming on the second day on seven, Jurel initially played the supporting role alongside Rishabh Pant, who returned to the crease after retiring hurt on the opening day.
The pair put on 112 runs for the seventh wicket, helping India recover from 307/6 and push past the 400-run mark.
Jurel brought up his fifty in 97 deliveries and continued to hold the innings together after Pant's dismissal, batting with the lower order as India moved towards 500.
Manav Suthar contributed 18 before Jurel found another willing partner in Mohammed Siraj. The pair added 31 runs for the ninth wicket, with Siraj helping Jurel move from 79 to the brink of his century.
Jurel reached three figures with a quick single off Asitha Fernando, narrowly avoiding a run-out after the throw at the non-striker's end missed the stumps.
With the landmark secured, Jurel shifted gears. He struck Fernando for a six off the next ball and later hooked the Sri Lankan pacer for another maximum as India closed in on 500.
Siraj was dismissed for three shortly after the century, but Jurel remained unbeaten alongside Prasidh Krishna as India crossed the 500-run mark and declared at 503/9 after 138 overs.
Jurel, who was Rajasthan Royals' second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2026 with 515 runs in 16 matches, has carried that form into an increasingly productive year in red-ball cricket.
He had scored a fluent 51 off 68 balls in the opening match in Galle. That knock was his second Test fifty and his first outside India.
Devdutt Padikkal had earlier laid the foundation for India's imposing total with 117, while captain Shubman Gill made 50 and Pant added 63.
Among the Royals,Yashasvi Jaiswal struck a brisk 45 off 53 balls at the top of the order, whileRavindra Jadeja contributed 43.
