Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rise in cricket has been meteoric. From smashing centuries in England and Australia to breaking records in the Indian Premier League, the young opener has already proven he belongs on the biggest stages.

Rajasthan Royals batting coach Vikram Rathour says what truly sets Vaibhav apart is his ability to stay grounded amid all the attention.

“He's not flustered at all. It’s not that he scored a hundred and suddenly became a big name in Indian cricket at a young age. Nothing has changed,” Rathour told the Times of India.

Rathour describes Sooryavanshi as a prodigy with an extraordinary ability to stay composed under pressure. Adding that Sooryavanshi’s calm approach, combined with his skill, allows him to perform consistently while remaining humble off the field.

“He's still so grounded and comfortable with all this suddenly happening around him. That's a great thing to have,” Rathour said. “He's got a hundred in England, he's got a hundred in Australia and you see what he can do in T20 cricket. Outstanding for a kid so young,” he added.

Vaibhav’s record speaks volumes. Last week, representing India U19 against Australia U19 in Brisbane, he scored a blistering 113 off just 86 balls, peppering the Australian attack with nine fours and eight sixes.

He became only the second player to hit two centuries in U19 cricket in under 100 balls, joining New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum.

Earlier this year, Vaibhav finished as the highest run-scorer in the five-match India U19 series against England, amassing 355 runs at an average of 71.00 and a strike rate of 174.01.

His 143 off 78 balls in the fourth Youth ODI made him the youngest centurion in U19 Men’s ODI history, with the century coming off just 52 balls - the fastest ever in the format.

Vaibhav also made waves in the IPL. He made his debut for Rajasthan Royals against the Lucknow Super Giants at the age of 14 years and 23 days.

Nine days later, he became the youngest centurion in IPL history, smashing a 35-ball 100 against Gujarat Titans. He finished IPL 2025 with 252 runs in seven matches at a blistering strike rate of 206.56, earning the Super Striker of the Season award.
