Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tushar Deshpande and Kuldeep Sen are among the Rajasthan Royals players named so far in squads for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season.
The 92nd edition of the Ranji Trophy, India’s premier domestic first-class cricket competition, will begin on Sunday.
A total of 38 Ranji Trophy teams will compete across the Elite and Plate divisions. The Elite competition features 32 teams split across four groups of eight, while six teams will contest the Plate division.
The opening phase of the Elite Division will run from October 11 to November 5 before resuming from January 17 to February 4. The knockouts begin on February 9, with the final scheduled to conclude on March 3.
Jaiswal and Deshpande have both been named in Mumbai’s squad for their Elite Group D season opener against Chandigarh at the Wankhede Stadium from October 11 to 14.
Jaiswal enters the season with 4968 runs from 53 first-class matches at an average of 54.00, including 17 centuries and 18 fifties.
The Royals opener could feature in Mumbai’s opening match before linking up with the India A setup later in the month.
Mumbai’s second Ranji Trophy match, against Himachal Pradesh, begins on October 18. However, Jaiswal has also been named in the India A squad for the three multi-day matches in New Zealand, with the first fixture starting in Lincoln on October 24.
Deshpande, meanwhile, has taken 134 wickets in 49 first-class matches at an average of 28.67. His best innings figures stand at 6/70.
The right-arm pacer was recently in action for India A against Australia A in Puducherry and picked up five wickets in the opening multi-day match.
Kuldeep Sen has been named in Madhya Pradesh’s 17-member squad for the start of the Ranji Trophy campaign.
The Royals quick enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 Ranji season, taking 17 wickets. His standout performance came in the quarter-finals against Jammu and Kashmir, where he returned career-best match figures of 9/131, including 5/66 in the first innings.
Madhya Pradesh will open their campaign against defending champions Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar on October 11.
Two other Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ravi Bishnoi, are currently on India duty for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies and will be unavailable for the opening round of Ranji Trophy matches.
The India vs West Indies T20I series runs until October 17, with the third match scheduled on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy season.
Sooryavanshi has also been named in India’s squad for the five-match T20I series in New Zealand from October 22 to November 1, extending his international commitments through most of the first phase of the Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai remain the most successful team in Ranji Trophy history with 42 titles, while Jammu and Kashmir enter the 2026-27 season as defending champions.
