Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the show with a whirlwind century for India A against the UAE in their opening Group B match of the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, Qatar, on Friday.

The teenage sensation scored a blistering 144 off just 42 balls, slamming the UAE bowlers for 11 fours and 15 sixes. His runs came at a strike rate of over 342 as he completed his century in just 32 balls.

At just 14 years and 232 days, Sooryavanshi also became the youngest man to hit a century for a national representative side at senior level, eclipsing a mark that had stood for two decades.

The previous record belonged to Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, who was 16 years and 171 days when he struck an unbeaten 111 for Bangladesh A against Zimbabwe A in a first-class match in 2005.

Among Indians, Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma are the only ones to have reached three figures in T20 cricket faster than Vaibhav, each achieving the milestone in 28 balls, albeit in domestic competitions. Rishabh Pant also scored a 32-ball century for Delhi back in 2018.

The 14-year-old Sooryavanshi, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, started aggressively, smashing a boundary off the third ball he faced in the innings and racing past 30 in just 10 balls.

Vaibhav reached his fifty off just 17 balls by hitting a boundary in the sixth over. The century followed, with a strike rate consistently near 300.

His innings eventually came to an end for 144, but by then the southpaw had propelled India A to a commanding 195/3 inside 13 overs.

Earlier this year, Vaibhav also took the cricketing world by storm when he made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants at the age of 14 years and 23 days to become the youngest player in the competition.

Nine days later, Vaibhav became the youngest centurion in IPL history after smashing a 35-ball 100 against the Gujarat Titans.

He finished IPL 2025 with 252 runs in seven matches at a blistering strike rate of 206.56, which earned him the Super Striker of the Season award.

Even after his breakout IPL season, the teenager has continued to shine for India’s youth sides and became both the youngest and fastest centurion in U19 ODI history earlier this year.
