Spin duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana have been named in the Sri Lankan cricket squad for the upcoming three-match 2025 ODI series against Bangladesh, scheduled from July 2 to 8.
The first two Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh ODI matches (July 2 and 5) will be held at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, while the final game on July 8 will take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
Charith Asalanka will captain the 16-member Sri Lanka cricket team in the series against Bangladesh. The two sides are currently engaged in a two-match Test series.
Both Hasaranga and Theekshana were part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in IPL 2025.
Ace off-spinner Theekshana has played 52 ODIs for Sri Lanka so far, picking up 76 wickets at an average of 25.52. He boasts of an economy of under five in the format.
Meanwhile, Hasaranga recently earned three top honours at the Sri Lanka Cricket Awards 2024 as he was named the best bowler in both ODIs and T20Is, besides bagging the best T20I all-rounder prize for his efforts in the shortest format.

The leg-spinning all-rounder finished as Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker across both white-ball formats last year, claiming 38 wickets in T20Is and 26 in ODIs. He was also the top wicket-taker in ODIs globally in 2024.
The Lankan all-rounder, who played for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, also enjoyed a stellar debut campaign for the Jaipur team this year.
With 11 wickets, he finished as RR’s joint-highest wicket-taker for the season, alongside fellow countryman Maheesh Theekshana and Jofra Archer.
