Maheesh Theekshana’s exploits back home saw him land a contract with Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2022. The Lankan spinner impressed from the start and picked up 12 wickets in just nine matches during his debut campaign in the IPL. Maheesh Theekshana was a key contributor to CSK’s title-winning run in IPL 2023, picking up 11 wickets in 13 outings. He played just five matches for CSK in IPL 2024 before joining the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2025. He is the youngest bowler to take a four-fer in the IPL. The ace spinner was also part of the Asia Cup 2022-winning Sri Lanka team and continues to be an integral part of his country’s national setup.
