Despite a challenging IPL 2025 campaign, the Rajasthan Royals have doubled down on their long-standing philosophy of investing in youth and backing their potential.

“We don’t buy superstars, we make superstars. That’s our tagline at Rajasthan Royals,” fielding coach Dishant Yagnik said after the match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday.

“In the past, many players we had weren't stars when they joined the team - they became stars. And the players we have now, we’ll turn them into stars too.”

With key players Sanju Samson and Sandeep Sharma sidelined due to injuries, the Royals have handed opportunities to emerging talents and they haven’t disappointed.

“Look at Vaibhav (Sooryavanshi) - everyone was cheering for him while he was batting (against Gujarat Titans). The entire crowd was behind him. If we continue to believe in these youngsters, they will become stars in the time to come.”

The 23-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal and 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have been productive at the top of the batting order, while Riyan Parag, 23, has been leading the side in the absence of injured Sanju Samson.

“Injuries are part and parcel of the game. When Sanju got injured this time, Vaibhav got his chance - and he made the most of it by scoring a century against GT.”

The Royals currently sit eighth on the table with six points. Their next match will be against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.
