Fast bowler Kwena Maphaka will be in action when the South African cricket team takes on Namibia in a three-match NAM vs SA ODI 2026 series starting on Wednesday.
All three matches of the Namibia vs South Africa ODI 2026 series will be played at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek and will be available to watch on live streaming in India.
Maphaka, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, heads into the ODI assignment after helping South Africa win the recently concluded T20I tri-series involving Namibia and Zimbabwe.
The 20-year-old left-arm pacer returned figures of 1/9 in the final as South Africa beat Zimbabwe by 48 runs to lift the trophy.
Maphaka has played three ODIs for the Proteas so far, taking five wickets at an average of 39.00. His best figures of 4/72 came on his ODI debut against Pakistan in Cape Town in December 2024.
Aged 18 years and 255 days at the time, Maphaka became the youngest player to make his ODI debut for South Africa.
The young Royal has also been named in South Africa's squad for the three-match home ODI series against Australia, which starts later this month.
Fellow Rajasthan Royals player Lhuan-dré Pretorius was initially part of South Africa's ODI squad for the Namibia series but has since been ruled out with a right abductor muscle injury suffered during the T20I tri-series. Matthew Breetzke has replaced him in the squad.
Bjorn Fortuin will continue to captain a youthful Proteas side, which also features Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, Breetzke and Corbin Bosch.
Namibia, meanwhile, will be led by Gerhard Erasmus and boast experienced campaigners including Jan Frylinck, JJ Smit, Ruben Trumpelmann and Bernard Scholtz.
The hosts will take confidence from their performances against South Africa in the preceding T20I tri-series. Namibia stunned the Proteas by 18 runs in their opening encounter before South Africa won the return fixture by 11 runs.
The upcoming series will be the first-ever ODI meeting between Namibia and South Africa.
