Rajasthan Royals showed plenty of fight but could not overcome Gujarat Titans in their 11th match of the IPL 2026 season, losing by 77 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, captaining Rajasthan Royals for the first time with Riyan Parag sidelined due to a hamstring injury, won the toss and chose to field first.
However, Jaiswal’s first outing as the Rajasthan Royals captain proved to be challenging as the Gujarat Titans posted 229/4 in their 20 overs - the joint-highest score at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Shubman Gill top-scored for GT with a 44-ball 84 while Brijesh Sharma picked up two for 47 in his four overs for RR.
Chasing 230 to win, RR were off to a flying start, scoring 78/3 runs in the powerplay courtesy of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s quickfire 36 off 16. Despite the strong start, a regular fall of wickets hampered the chase, with the Royals managing 152 in 16.3 overs.
The result pushes RR down to fifth spot on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins from 11 matches.

Earlier in the day, GT captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan came out all guns blazing, racing to 82 without loss in the powerplay.
Rajasthan Royals pulled things back through Yash Raj Punja and Ravindra Jadeja, who combined to concede 73 runs and claim two wickets in the next eight overs.
Punja broke the 118-run opening stand in the 11th over by dismissing Sudharsan for 55 off 36, while Jadeja ‘pocketed’ Jos Buttler’s wicket three overs later.

However, Gujarat Titans maintained the momentum as Gill and Washington Sundar stitched together a 35-run partnership for the third wicket.
Gill was dismissed by Brijesh Sharma in the 17th over, allowing Tushar Deshpande to deliver a valuable 18th over that cost only eight runs. Brijesh Sharma followed up by conceding just four runs and dismissing Jason Holder in the 19th.
Sundar (37 off 20) and Rahul Tewatia (14 off four), however, helped the Gujarat Titans to a late flourish.
Chasing a record score at the venue, Rajasthan Royals batters came out swinging.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set the tone with a fearless 36 off just 16 balls, becoming the youngest batter to complete 100 sixes in T20 cricket in the process.
He smashed Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada for three sixes and as many fours before falling to Siraj in the third over.
Rabada then struck again to remove Yashasvi Jaiswal, leaving RR at 38/2.
Dhruv Jurel counter-attacked with 22 off seven while Ravindra Jadeja launched a six and a four off consecutive deliveries as the Royals reached 78/3 at the end of the powerplay.
Gujarat Titans tightened their grip with a decisive middle-overs burst, with Rashid Khan turning the game on its head in the eighth over, removing Jurel and Donovan Ferreira in the space of three deliveries.
The Royals briefly countered but Rashid struck again to finish with four wickets, including Jadeja who scored a fighting 38 off 25 balls. At 137/7 after 14 overs, the Royals were left with an uphill task.
The Royals eventually were bowled out on 152 in 16.3 overs.
Saturday’s match saw the Royals taking the field in all-pink jerseys as part of their Pink Promise initiative, reaffirming their commitment to women-led transformation in Rajasthan.
The Pink Promise initiative, led by the Royal Rajasthan Foundation, focuses on enabling empowered women and driving sustainable change within communities.
Rajasthan Royals will face Delhi Capitals in their next match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 17.
