As the FIFA World Cup 2026 grips fans across the globe, Indian cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has also joined the frenzy and caught football fever.
Fresh from a century outing in India colours against Afghanistan, Yashasvi Jaiswal was spotted soaking in the FIFA World Cup 2026 atmosphere from the stands during the France vs Sweden round of 32 clash at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
Jaiswal documented the experience in a short social media video, captioned ‘Bucket list’, signalling the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream of watching a FIFA World Cup match from close quarters.

The 24-year-old Indian batter was seen wearing Lionel Messi’s iconic No. 10 Argentina jersey as he embraced the electric Football World Cup atmosphere. The Royals’ fans, though, know him best in the pink jersey No. 64 of Rajasthan.
Jaiswal, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, looked completely at home among thousands of football fans, humming along to Shakira's official FIFA World Cup song Dai Dai before taking in the entertainment and soaking up the carnival-like atmosphere around the stadium.

Last month, Jaiswal smashed an unbeaten 110 off just 86 deliveries against Afghanistan in Chennai to become the first Indian batter to score two ODI centuries in his first six matches.
One of only six batters to score a century in all three formats for the Men in Blue, Jaiswal enjoyed another productive IPL campaign with Rajasthan Royals, scoring 427 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 152.5.
Jaiswal's rise from a small-town dreamer to one of world cricket's brightest talents has earned him widespread acclaim, including a place on TIME's list of the World's Most Influential Rising Stars and recognition as one of the best young players by Wisden.
For now, though, the bat has been put away for a few days as Jaiswal enjoys football's biggest festival before returning to the crease.
