Ravindra Jadeja reached another landmark in his illustrious red-ball career on Monday, becoming only the fifth Indian bowler to take 350 wickets in the format during the first Sri Lanka vs India Test 2026 in Galle.
The all-rounder entered the series needing two wickets to reach the landmark and completed the feat on Day 3, finishing with 3/57 as India bowled Sri Lanka out for 284, giving India a 178-run first-innings lead.
Jadeja, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, first dismissed Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva for 21 before claiming his 350th Test wicket by removing Keshara Nuwantha for two. He then completed his three-wicket haul by trapping centurion Sonal Dinusha lbw for 100.
The 37-year-old Jadeja is now fifth on India's all-time Test wicket-takers' list, behind Anil Kumble (619), Ravichandran Ashwin (537), Kapil Dev (434) and Harbhajan Singh (417).
The milestone also made Jadeja only the second Indian after Kapil Dev to combine 4000 Test runs with 350 wickets.
He crossed 4000 Test runs in November last year, becoming only the fourth player in Test history after Kapil, Ian Botham and Daniel Vettori to complete the 4000-run and 300-wicket double.
Jadeja's 350th wicket came in his 90th Test. He has 15 five-wicket hauls in the format, while his best match figures are 10/110, achieved against Australia in Delhi in 2023.
During Rajasthan Royals' IPL 2026 campaign, Jadeja became only the second Indian all-rounder after Hardik Pandya to complete the double of 4000 runs and 200 wickets in T20 cricket.
Earlier in the Test match, India posted 462 in their first innings, with Devdutt Padikkal's 167 the standout contribution.
Dhruv Jurel made a fluent 51 off 68 balls, helping India push past the 400-run mark. Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 32, while Jadeja scored 13 in India's first innings.
