Fast bowler Jofra Archer was named in the England cricket team’s T20 and ODI squads for its home white-ball series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to start on September 15.
The England and Wales Cricket Board announced 16-member squads for both formats on Friday.
The 2026 white-ball series against Sri Lanka will begin with the T20s, with the first match in Southampton before the action moves to Cardiff and then Manchester to conclude the three-match series.
The ODI series will kick off at Chester-le-Street, followed by a game in Leeds before the three-match series culminates at The Oval.
Jofra Archer, who was Rajasthan Royals’ leading wicket-taker with 25 scalps in IPL 2026, will spearhead the English pace attack.
The 31-year-old pacer has been in a rich vein of form for England across formats this year.
He bagged the Player of the Series award in the Test series against New Zealand in June and backed it up with another stunning display in the T20I series against India in July.
The right-arm pacer picked up seven wickets to finish as the joint-leading wicket-taker and helped England win the series 4-0 against India.
His standout performance against India came in the third T20I at Trent Bridge, where he returned figures of 3/29 to earn the Player of the Match award.
Archer is currently part of England’s Test squad for their three-match series against Pakistan and has taken eight wickets at an average of 21.87 to help his side take an unassailable 2-0 lead.
He is currently third in the ICC men’s ODI bowling rankings and 15th in the T20I rankings.
Archer will face his Royals teammate Dasun Shanaka, who has been named in both Sri Lanka’s T20I and ODI squads for the series against England.
