Yudhvir Singh was the pick of the Jammu and Kashmir bowlers as they managed to restrict Mumbai to 386 in the first innings during a Ranji Trophy 2025-26 Elite Group D match at the Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar on Thursday.

The talented pacer, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, finished the first innings with figures of 5/96 in 21 overs.

This was Yudhvir’s second fifer in first class cricket. His best Ranji bowling figures is 5/17, which came against the Services last season.

Yudhvir’s first wicket of the match saw him break a blossoming partnership between Ayush Mhatre and Ajinkya Rahane as he had the former caught behind for 28. A few overs later, he sent back the experienced Rahane in similar fashion.

The right arm pacer’s third victim was another important one as he trapped Shams Mulani LBW nine runs short of his century.

He then dismissed Tanush Kotian and opposition captain Shardul Thakur cheaply to clean up the Mumbai tail.

This is not the first time Yudhvir Singh has managed to impress against record 42-time Ranji champions Mumbai.

Last season, he picked up seven wickets across two innings - a Player of the Match-winning performance - to lead J&K to a memorable five-wicket win over the mighty Mumbai at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC.

Yudhvir’s Royals teammate Tushar Deshpande, meanwhile, is in the Mumbai squad for the match and has already picked up the wickets of Musaif Ajaz and Sahil Lotra. Jammu and Kashmir are six down with 234 on the board.

The 91st edition of the Ranji Trophy, India’s premier domestic first-class tournament, began on Wednesday with the first-round matches.
