Yashasvi Jaiswal capped off a stunning ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle as the leading six-hitter and the second-highest run-scorer, underlining his rise as a premier all-format batter for India.

The WTC cycle concluded on Saturday, with South Africa lifting their maiden title after a five-wicket win over Australia in the final at Lords.

While England's Joe Root topped the run charts with 1968 in 22 matches, it was Jaiswal’s 1798 runs in just 19 Tests that stood out for their flair and impact. Among Indians, Shubman Gill was the next best on the list, finishing with 972 runs, ranked 18th overall.

No player hit more sixes than the 23-year-old left-hander during the World Test Championship cycle. Jaiswal cleared the ropes 39 times – 15 more than the next-best tally of 24, jointly held by England’s Ben Stokes and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips. Rishabh Pant is the next best Indian with 18 sixes.

The Indian cricketer also led the boundaries count with 207 fours, the only batter to breach the 200-mark over the WTC 2023-25 period.

Jaiswal’s aggressive approach yielded a healthy strike rate of 65.66 and he registered a cycle-high 10 fifties to go with four centuries.

Having made his Test debut in 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal has swiftly become a cornerstone of the Indian cricket team’s red-ball side. He shone during his maiden Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia late last year, where he amassed 391 runs – the most by an Indian – featuring a century in Perth and two fifties.

The form extended into the Indian Premier League as well, where he was Rajasthan Royals’ top run-getter in 2025 with 559 runs from 14 games.

Jaiswal is part of India’s squad for the upcoming five-Test home series against England, starting June 20.
