Yashasvi Jaiswal has expressed his interest in sponsoring the best batsman award for this year’s Harris Shield and Giles Shield (Final) cricket tournaments, the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) revealed in a statement on Monday.
“This is indeed a commendable gesture from Jaiswal, who himself has played in the Harris Shield during his formative years,” Nadim Memon, Cricket Secretary of MSSA, said.
“His continued association with the tournament reflects his deep sense of gratitude and respect for his roots, as well as his desire to give back to the platform that helped shape his cricketing journey,” he added.

According to the MSSA, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, will sponsor the complete cricket kit for the best batter in the two tournaments.
The award will be presented during the official prize distribution ceremony after the final match of the prestigious Harris and Giles Shield tournaments.
The Harris Shield and Giles Shield are two of Mumbai’s most prestigious inter-school cricket tournaments, known for producing generations of top Indian cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar and now Yashasvi Jaiswal.
While the Harris Shield is a U16 competition, the Giles Shield is for U14 players. Both tournaments are more than 120 years old.
Yashasvi Jaiswal himself played in the Harris Shield in his teenage years and is now looking to give back to the stage which helped him grow into one of the finest batters in the country.
The top-scorer for the Royals in IPL 2025 with 559 runs in 14 matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal was part of the Indian squad for the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against Australia.
A mainstay in India’s Test squad ever since his debut in 2023, Yashasvi has amassed 2428 in 26 matches at an average of 51.65. He has also struck seven centuries and 12 fifties in international red-ball cricket.
Yashasvi’s 1478 Test runs in 2024 alone set a new record for the most by an Indian opener in a calendar year and earned him a spot in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year.
His consistent performances also saw him named in Time magazine’s list of the World’s Most Influential Rising Stars.
In August, Yashasvi was ranked No. 1 on Wisden Cricket Monthly’s list of The Best 40 Young Players in the World, compiled by leading cricket writers worldwide.
