Vaibhav Sooryavanshi finished as the highest run-scorer in the five-match India U19 vs England U19 Youth ODI 2025 series, which concluded in Worcester on Monday.

The 14-year-old Vaibhav amassed 355 runs in five matches at an average of 71.00 and a staggering strike rate of 174.01, establishing him as the breakout star of the series.

He finished 75 runs clear of the second-highest run-getter, England’s Thomas Rew, and was India’s best batter by a distance, with Vihaan Malhotra next on the list with 243 runs.

England’s Rocky Flintoff, son of former international Andrew Flintoff, placed fourth with 222 runs.

Vaibhav’s scores in the series read 48, 45, 86, 143, and 33, highlighting both his consistency and explosiveness at the top of the order. His strike rate of 174.01 was the best among players who played at least two matches in the series. Thomas Rew was next with 142.13.

Vaibhav’s century in the fourth Youth ODI - a whirlwind 143 - shattered multiple records. It was the fastest century ever scored in U19 men’s ODIs and made him the youngest centurion in the format’s history.

The teenager’s 19-ball 48 in the opening game and the 31-ball 86 in the third match were also match-winning knocks and helped India clinch the series by a 3-2 margin.

He also hit 29 sixes in the series - one more than the combined tally of the next six highest scorers over the course of the five games.

The England tour has only added to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s growing reputation in global cricket, which first took shape during the IPL 2025 season.

Representing Rajasthan Royals, he became the youngest player in Indian Premier League history at 14 years and 23 days, and then the youngest centurion, hammering a sensational 35-ball 100 against Gujarat Titans.

That knock also set the record for the fastest IPL century by an Indian and ranks as the second-fastest hundred overall in the tournament, behind only Chris Gayle.

Vaibhav will be next seen in action in the two Youth Tests vs England, which will be played in Beckenham and Chelmsford, starting from July 12.
