Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his red-hot form with the Indian U19 cricket team as he scored the fastest century in the history of men’s Youth ODIs in the fourth match of the ongoing IND U19 vs ENG U19 series at Worcester on Saturday.
The teenager scored 143 off 78 balls at a whopping strike rate of 183.33, hitting 13 fours as well as 10 sixes during his knock.
Vaibhav’s blistering 52-ball century broke the previous record for the fastest century in men’s Youth ODIs held by Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam, who had reached the milestone in 53 deliveries, also against England, back in 2013.
Raj Angad Bawa’s 69-ball hundred against Uganda at the 2022 U-19 World Cup was the fastest century by an Indian in the format before Vaibhav’s rampage in Worcester.

Bangladesh's Najmul Hossain Shanto (14 years and 241 days) held the record for the past 12 years.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan was the youngest to score a hundred for the Indian U19 team prior to Vaibhav. He was 15 years and 338 days old when he slammed a ton against South Africa U-19 back in 2013.
Asked to bat first, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was at his belligerent best, smashing the English bowlers to all corners of the park from the outset.
He hit back-to-back sixes to reach his fifty in just 24 balls before bringing up his century in 52 deliveries.
The explosive left-hander eventually fell in the 28th over, but not before inflicting serious damage, putting India in a commanding position with the score reading 233/2.
This isn’t the first time that Vaibhav is in the limelight for a blistering hundred.
He also struck the second-fastest hundred in men’s Youth Tests against Australia U19 in Chennai last year.
Vaibhav reached the three-figure mark in just 58 balls and sits behind England’s Moeen Ali, who hit a 56-ball hundred in 2005.
Earlier this year, Vaibhav also etched his name into the history books with a blistering century against the Gujarat Giants - becoming the youngest-ever centurion and the fastest Indian to reach three figures in IPL history.
His 35-ball ton for the Royals is also the second-fastest in the league’s history, behind only Chris Gayle’s iconic effort.
The 14-year-old prodigy had scored 86 from just 31 balls to help the India U19 team beat England in the previous match of the series. Vaibhav had also made 48 and 45 in the first two matches.
