Spin duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana have been named in Sri Lanka’s 17-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled from July 10 to 16.
The three-match Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh T20 2025 series will be played across Kandy, Dambulla and Colombo.
The opener is set for July 10 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, followed by the second game at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium on July 13. The final T20I will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on July 16.
Charith Asalanka will lead the Sri Lankan side, which is currently playing a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.
Wanindu Hasaranga derailed the Bangladeshi batting line-up in the first ODI with figures of 4/10 in 7.5 overs and picked up 3/60 in the second. The third match will be played on July 8. Hasaranga is currently the top wicket-taker in the series.
He also became the second fastest Sri Lankan bowler to take 100 ODI wickets during the first match.
The T20 series will serve as vital preparation for both teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and India.

Both Hasaranga and Theekshana were part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in IPL 2025 and impressed for the Jaipur team.
They were the Royals’ joint-highest wicket-takers this season with 11, alongside England’s Jofra Archer.
Hasaranga enjoyed a terrific 2024 season and finished as Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker in both ODIs (26 wickets) and T20Is (38 wickets). He was the highest wicket-taker in ODIs globally.
Theekshana, known for his control and variations, has been a key figure in Sri Lanka’s white-ball setup. He has played 60 T20Is so far, picking up 58 wickets at an economy rate of 6.87.
