Sanju Samson’s red-hot run with the bat showed no signs of slowing down as he followed up his blazing century with another destructive knock for Kochi in Kerala’s domestic T20 league on Tuesday.

The Rajasthan Royals skipper, who hammered 121 off just 51 balls for Kochi on Sunday, lit up the tournament once again with a quickfire 89 off 46 deliveries against Thrissur.

His innings, studded with four boundaries and nine towering sixes, came at a strike rate of 193.48.

Samson made his intentions clear from the outset with a crisp boundary through extra cover in the opening over. He then tore into the attack between the fourth and fifth overs, smashing four sixes and a four in just eight balls.

Samson reached his half-century with a towering hit over long-off in the ninth over and was eventually dismissed in the 18th while pushing for a late flourish. Kochi finished their innings on 188/7 in 20 overs.

The knock comes after Samson powered Kochi to a thrilling four-wicket win over Kollam in Thiruvananthapuram with a blistering 42-ball century – his second-fastest in T20 cricket.

That innings underlined the 30-year-old’s destructive form ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE, where he will be part of the Indian squad.

Samson, who leads Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, has represented India in 42 T20 Internationals, scoring 861 runs at a strike rate of 152.38.

In the IPL, his consistency remains the cornerstone of the Royals’ batting unit – with 4,027 runs in 149 matches, he is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and one of the most successful captains, guiding RR to the IPL 2022 final.
