Sanju Samson’s steady half-century helped the Indian cricket team post a solid total against Oman in their final Asia Cup 2025 Group A match at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Walking in at No. 3 after Shubman Gill’s early dismissal in the second over, Samson, who is the captain of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, took time to settle, managing just a single from his first seven deliveries before coming into his own.
In the fourth over, Samson signalled intent with a clean strike off Shah Faisal - a half-volley dispatched over deep mid-wicket for six.
By the seventh over, Samson was in full flow, standing tall to lift Samay Shrivastava straight back over his head for a maximum before carving the very next delivery through extra cover for four.
Samson struck a four to bring up his fifty off 41 balls and went on to score 56 from 45 deliveries, laced with three fours and as many sixes.
India finished at 188/8. Sanju Samson was the highest scorer of the innings, followed by Abhishek Sharma (38) and Tilak Varma (29).

The knock also featured a personal milestone - his 50th six in T20 International cricket. He has now cleared the ropes 52 times in T20Is and is the 10th Indian batter to enter the 50-six club in the format.
Samson has represented India in 45 T20Is, scoring 917 runs at a strike rate of over 150. The right-hander has hit three fifties and as many hundreds for India in T20Is.
He was also part of the Indian playing XI in the matches against the UAE and Pakistan, but batted for the first time in the tournament against Oman.
