For a second consecutive match, Parag finished as the highest run-getter for the Royals. His measured innings against PBKS had six boundaries without any sixes and came at a strike rate of 141.17.

The 22-year-old Parag anchored the Royals innings and took them to a respectable position before getting dismissed in the last over. His good form with the bat augurs well for the Royals as they enter the most crucial phase of the tournament.

Ravichandran Ashwin came good with the bat once again during a crisis for the Royals. Coming in at 42/3, he provided the much-needed impetus to the Royals’ innings as he scored 28 runs off just 19 balls hitting three fours, which included an audacious reverse sweep, and a six.

Ashwin stitched his second fifty-run partnership in the tournament with Parag after coming in to bat before the halfway mark. In the first instance, he scored a 19-ball 29 against Delhi Capitals to help the team out from 36/3 to put up a winning total batting first.

The Royals showed a fight with the ball defending a below-par score. They kept things tight and picked up wickets at crucial junctures to take the game till the 19th over before falling short.

Avesh and Trent Boult were effective with the new ball in the powerplay as they reduced PBKS to 39/3. Avesh’s double strike in his first over put the Kings on the backfoot during the chase, before Chahal took over.

Chahal, high on confidence after his performance against Chennai, was at it again. The leg-spinner along with Ashwin restricted the run-flow conceding just 39 runs in their six overs after the powerplay.

Picking up two wickets against the Kings, Chahal went level with Siddarth Trivedi to be the Royals’ highest wicket-taker in the IPL. In only his third season with the Royals, he has reached 65 wickets in just 44 matches, 32 matches less than Trivedi.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has the most runs against the Knight Riders in the current Royals’ squad with 529 runs from 20 matches, including nine scores of 30 or above. On the bowling front, Chahal has 29 wickets in 22 matches against KKR, the highest wicket-taker in the current team with Ashwin picking up 24 scalps in 26 matches.

In the reverse fixture against KKR at Kolkata, the Royals registered a thrilling two-wicket win off the last ball, powered by Jos Buttler’s unbeaten century. Avesh and Kuldeep Sen had picked up two wickets with the ball.
