Jackson Warne, son of the late Australian and Rajasthan Royals legend Shane Warne, experienced an emotional homecoming of sorts during his recent visit to Jaipur.

During his three-day visit to the city, his first visit to India after almost 15 years, Jackson attended the Royals’ IPL 2025 Pink Promise match against the Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium - a ground which has a dedicated gallery named after his dad.

“It was cool sort of looking at our tickets and it saying Shane Warne Gallery on the ticket. Very special for me,” Jackson told current Royals’ batting coach Vikram Rathour while he was visiting one of the team’s training sessions.

Jackson also walked down memory lane and iterated how special it felt to be back in Jaipur after so long.

“Feels special being back here. I haven’t been here since the 2011 season, when it was dad’s last year (as a player). So it’s been like 15 years,” he said.

Rathour also welcomed Jackson Warne back warmly and clarified that Jackson will always be a part of the Royals’ family.

Shane Warne, who passed away in 2022, was Rajasthan Royals’ first captain in the IPL and memorably led a young team to the title in the inaugural 2008 season by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final.

Warne captained the Royals from 2008 to 2011, playing 55 matches and taking 57 wickets at an average of 25.38.

Under his leadership, the Royals became known for backing young Indian talent, with players like Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane gaining prominence. Warne also served as a mentor and coach during his time with the Royals.

To honour his legacy, Rajasthan Royals renamed a section at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as the Shane Warne Gallery in 2023.

The gallery stands as a homage to Warne’s role in shaping the Royals’ identity.
