Following the close of the retention window on Saturday, the Indian Premier League announced that the IPL 2026 auction will take place on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

With each team allowed a squad of a maximum of 25 players, Rajasthan Royals will enter the mini auction next month with nine slots to fill - including one overseas player - and a remaining purse of ₹16.05 crore.

Rajasthan Royals currently have 16 players on their roster, comprising nine Indians and seven overseas cricketers.

The RR squad has already been bolstered by three major trades, with Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran and Donovan Ferreira joining ahead of the new season.

Among the Indian core are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Shubham Dubey, Yudhvir Singh, Sandeep Sharma and Tushar Deshpande.

The overseas contingent retained includes batters Shimron Hetmyer and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, along with the pace trio of Jofra Archer, Kwena Maphaka and Nandre Burger.

This year’s auction marks the third successive edition to be held outside India, following Dubai in 2024 and Jeddah, which hosted last year’s mega auction in November.

The list of players in the auction pool will be announced later.
