India’s U19 team will be led by Ayush Mhatre, who represented Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
However, the spotlight will be on 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who represented Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 and scored 252 runs in seven games at an average of 36.00 and a strike rate of 206.56.
Not one to be satisfied with his breakthrough IPL campaign that saw him bag the Super Striker of the Season award and become the fastest Indian to score a ton in the tournament’s history, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has continued to impress with the bat.
Vaibhav, who now holds the record for the youngest debutant and centurion in IPL, scored an incredible 190 off just 90 balls in a practice match played at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru earlier this month.
The practice match was part of the India U19 team’s preparatory camp in Bengaluru for the team’s tour of England.
The match against England at the Loughborough University will be the first assignment for India’s junior team since they lost the U19 Asia Cup last year. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was part of the team on that occasion as well and played a starring role as India made the final.
Furthermore, India’s U19 team have also roped in D Deepesh and Naman Pushpak as Aditya Rana and Khilan Patel, who picked up injuries after being named in the original touring squad to England.
Deepesh and Pushpak were earlier named as standby players.
After Tuesday’s 50-over warm-up match, India’s U19 team will play England in a five-match Youth One-Day series, followed by two multi-day matches.
