The Duleep Trophy 2025 will be played from August 28 to September 15. The zonal first-class cricket tournament, now in its 62nd edition, begins with the quarter-finals and ends with the five-day final.

Six teams - North, South, East, West, Central and North East Zone - will contest for the title.

The tournament was introduced in 1961-62 and named after former India batter and cricket icon Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji.

It has long been a key part of the Indian domestic calendar, giving players an extended red-ball platform in between the Ranji Trophy seasons.

Duleep Trophy matches last four days, except for the final, which is played over five.

West Zone remain the most successful team in Duleep Trophy history with 19 titles. South Zone won the competition the last time it was held in the zonal format, in 2023.

This year’s format features two quarter-finals starting from August 28, with North Zone facing East Zone and Central Zone meeting North East Zone.

West Zone and South Zone, the finalists from 2023, are seeded directly into the semi-finals, which begin on September 4. The final starts on September 11.

All matches of the Duleep Trophy 2025 will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru.

Traditionally played between Zonal teams, last season’s Duleep Trophy adopted a different format with India A, B, C and D teams competing.

India A defeated India B in the final to lift the Duleep Trophy 2024 title. Rajasthan RoyalsRiyan Parag, who was part of the champion India A squad last year, will be in the East Zone squad for this year’s tournament.

There are also other Rajasthan Royals players who will be in action at the 2025 Duleep Trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tushar Deshpande are part of a star-studded West Zone squad while Dhruv Jurel will captain Central. Yudhvir Singh, meanwhile, have received a maiden call-up for North Zone.

Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is also among the standby players for East Zone.
