Dhruv Jurel has been named captain of the 15-member Central Zone squad, which will compete in the Duleep Trophy 2025, starting August 28.
This will be Jurel’s third appearance in the Duleep Trophy after winning the trophy with India A in 2024-25 and earning his maiden call-up with Central Zone in the 2023 campaign.
Established in 1961-62, the Duleep Trophy is named after legendary former Indian cricketer Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji and is the country’s premier zonal first-class tournament.
Matches are played over four days, apart from the final, which is a five-day contest.
Jurel, who represents the Rajasthan Royals, scored 333 runs in the Indian Premier League 2025.

The 24-year-old wicketkeeper batter was last seen in action in the final match of the recently concluded India vs England Test series at The Oval. Jurel scored a crucial 34 in the second innings.
Jurel’s wicketkeeping was also impactful. Standing in for the injured Rishabh Pant during the 2025 England vs India Test series, he took crucial catches at Lord’s and Manchester before starting for the team at The Oval.
In first-class cricket, Jurel has scored 1515 runs in 25 matches at an average of 47.34. The 24-year-old Indian cricketer will be one of several Rajasthan Royals players who will be seen in action at the Duleep Trophy 2025.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tushar Deshpande have been named in the West Zone squad, while Riyan Parag is part of the East Zone team with teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on the standby list.
Right-arm bowler Yudhvir Singh received his maiden Duleep Trophy call-up by the North Zone squad.
Five-time champions Central Zone will begin their Duleep Trophy campaign on August 28 with a clash against North East Zone.
