Dhruv Jurel has been drafted into the Indian cricket team for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting on Sunday as a replacement for the injured Rishabh Pant.
Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the series against the Black Caps after suffering a side strain during an extended net session on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Jurel was part of India’s ODI squad for a three-match series against Australia back in October but is yet to make his international debut in the format.

Dhruv Jurel, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, joins India’s 50-over setup after starring for his state Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.
The right-handed wicketkeeper batter had scored 123 off 96 balls to help Uttar Pradesh chase down a 270-run target against Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Thursday.
Earlier in the VHT 2025-26 season, Jurel had scored his maiden List A century with an unbeaten 160 off 101 balls against Baroda. He is currently Uttar Pradesh’s top scorer in the tournament with 558 runs in seven matches at an average of 93.
He has scored two hundreds as well as four half-centuries across seven innings in VHT 2025-26.
Overall, Dhruv Jurel has scored 747 runs in 17 matches at an average of 74.70 and a strike rate of 113.35 in his List A career.
Jurel, who has already made his Test and T20I debuts for India, will join fellow Royals Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja in India’s 15-member ODI squad for the series against New Zealand.
