Dhruv Jurel continued his purple patch with the bat by smashing another unbeaten century in the second innings and registered twin hundreds for India A in their second unofficial Test against South Africa A in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Dhruv Jurel, who plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, top-scored with an unbeaten 127 from 170 balls at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground.

He hit 15 fours and one six during the knock to register his fifth century in first-class cricket. In fact, Jurel’s fourth ton came earlier in the same match as he scored 132 not out off 175 balls in the first innings.

This was also Jurel’s fourth first-class century in the past three months, taking his tally to 2146 runs in the format at an impressive average of 58.27.

Dhruv Jurel came to the crease after captain Rishabh Pant retired not out with the score on 108 for 4.

After taking some time to get his eye in, Jurel struck his first boundary of the innings in the 44th over and never looked back as he proceeded to play another fluent knock, bringing up his fifty off 83 balls in the 63rd over.

He reached his century off 160 balls in the 86th over, taking Tiaan van Vuuren apart for 18 runs to bring up the milestone in style.

Jurel struck the only six of his innings shortly after and remained unbeaten as India A declared on 382 for 7, setting the Proteas a target of 417 to chase.

The wicketkeeper-batter also recently scored his maiden Test ton for India in the first match of the series against the West Indies when he made 125 off 210 balls.

Earlier this summer, Jurel piled up 227 runs at an average of 75.66, hitting three half-centuries in four innings during the India A team’s tour of England.

He scored a century against Australia A in a multi-day match at home and made 56 while captaining the team to victory in the second game of the series.

Jurel is a part of a 15-member Test squad for the two-match India vs South Africa 2025 Test series, along with his Royals teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal.
