The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday named a 15-member Team India squad for the upcoming 2023 Asian Games in China. The men's T20 competition of the 19th edition is set to be played from September 28 to October 8, while the women's tournament will kick start on September 19. This will be the first time that the Indian cricket team will be participating in the Asian Games.

Star Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who recently made his India debut in the ongoing West Indies series, has been included in the squad that will be led by youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Playing his first-ever Test match for India, Yashasvi came out all guns blazing in the first Test against West Indies with a maiden century. The 21-year-old is in the middle of a dream run this year with the bat, first making his India A debut, followed by his career-best IPL season for Rajasthan Royals. Known for his unwavering commitment and dedication, the Royals' blue-eyed boy grabbed the first opportunity that came his way with both hands. Yashasvi's flamboyant hundred helped Team India inflict a huge innings defeat over the hosts, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. His 171 is now the third-highest score by an Indian Test debutant, with senior player Shikhar Dhawan (187) and current Indian captain Rohit Sharma (177) at the top of the list.
