Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was back to record-breaking antics on Sunday as he smashed the fastest fifty in List A cricket while batting for India A against Sri Lanka A in the final of the Talent TV Cup 2026.

The prodigious teenager blazed to an 11-ball fifty - the fastest in List A cricket history - before finishing with a breathtaking 94 off just 29 deliveries. He hammered 10 fours and eight sixes, batting at an astonishing strike rate of 324.13.

With the hosts sending India A in to bat at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi signalled his intent from the outset, cracking two boundaries to get off the mark.

The 15-year-old then unleashed a brutal assault in the third over, taking Mohamed Shiraz apart for 26 runs with two fours and three sixes.

Another four and a couple of sixes saw him reach his fifty off just 11 balls to create the new record for the fastest List A half-century.

Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeratane previously held the record for the fastest List A fifty, having struck a half-century in 12 balls for the Ragama Cricket Club in 2005.

Sooryavanshi also eclipsed the previous Indian record held by Sarfaraz Khan, who had raced to a 15-ball half-century for Mumbai against Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season.

Despite making his List A debut only in December 2024, the 15-year-old has already featured in 12 matches and boasts a career-best score of 190 for Bihar in domestic cricket.

Vaibhav eventually fell six runs short of a hundred but not before he had powered India to 132/1 inside nine overs.

He finishes the series with 211 runs in five matches at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 200.95.

Vaibhav was also Rajasthan Royals’ leading scorer in IPL 2026 with 776 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.50 and a staggering strike rate of 237.30. The tally saw him become the youngest player to win the Orange Cap and the MVP award in Indian Premier League history.
