Hard-hitting left-hander Shimron Hetmyer has been named in the West Indies cricket squad for the upcoming three-match T20I 2025 series against Ireland, scheduled from June 12 to 15.

All three matches of the IRE vs WI T20 series will take place at the Bready Cricket Ground in Northern Ireland, starting from Thursday.

The West Indies cricket team, who lost 3-0 in the T20 series against England earlier in June, have named a 14-member squad for the 20-over series against the Irish.

Shimron Hetmyer, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, played one game in the three-match T20 series against England.

He scored 26 off eight balls in the match, hitting three sixes and a four while batting at a strike rate of 325.00 as West Indies stumbled to a 37-run loss in the final match of the series.

Hetmyer raked up 239 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 145.73 for the Royals in the recently concluded IPL 2025 season.

For the West Indies, he has scored 968 runs in 63 T20s so far.

The West Indies and Ireland have faced each other in eight head-to-head T20 matches to date with each team winning three games apiece. Two yielded no results.

The last time the two met, the Irish upset the Windies by nine wickets at Hobart to knock the Caribbean team out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
