Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, needed just three balls to open his boundary count before launching his first six off the very next delivery.

After a 44-run opening stand with Aaron George, Vaibhav kept the pressure on the Zimbabwean bowlers and raised a fifty-run stand with skipper Ayush Mhatre for the second wicket.

He reached his fifty off just 24 balls before falling to Tatenda Chimugoro in the 11th over.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s brisk fifty was his second of the tournament, having previously scored 72 off 67 balls to help India beat Bangladesh in a Group B clash.

He is currently India’s leading scorer in the U19 World Cup, having amassed 166 runs at an average of 41.50 and a strike rate of 133.87.

Earlier this month, Vaibhav had captained the Indian U19 side to a commanding 3-0 away Youth ODI series win over South Africa in Benoni, leading from the front in his maiden assignment as junior national team captain.

The Rajasthan Royals opener finished the series as the leading scorer with 206 runs from three innings, including a half-century in the second match and a century in the decider.

He had also warmed up for the U19 World Cup with a Player of the Match performance, smashing a 50-ball 96 against Scotland in India’s first warm-up game.
