Vaibhav Sooryavanshi broke the record for most runs by an uncapped player in an IPL season during the RR vs SRH IPL 2026 Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Sooryavanshi surpassed the previous record held by fellow Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had scored 626 runs in IPL 2023. Yashasvi Jaiswal was at the other end of the pitch when Vaibhav broke the record.
Vaibhav, who scored 97 off just 29 balls, needed only 44 runs at the start of the IPL 2026 Eliminator to overtake Jaiswal’s tally and got there with a maximum off his 15th ball of the innings.
The teenage sensation now sits at the top of the list for most runs by an uncapped player in an IPL season, which also includes RR captain Riyan Parag.

Player | Team | Matches | Runs | Edition |
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi | Rajasthan Royals | 15 | 680 | 2026 |
Yashasvi Jaiswal | Rajasthan Royals | 14 | 626 | 2023 |
Shaun Marsh | Punjab Kings | 11 | 616 | 2008 |
Riyan Parag | Rajasthan Royals | 16 | 573 | 2024 |
Prabhsimran Singh | Punjab Kings | 17 | 549 | 2025 |
Vaibhav had already created history earlier in the innings by becoming the first teenager to score 600 runs in a T20 tournament. He needed 17 runs to get there and reached the landmark on the second ball of the third over.
He raced to a 16-ball half-century, matching Suresh Raina’s mark for the fastest fifty in IPL playoff history. Raina had reached his half-century in 16 balls for Chennai Super Kings against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2014.
However, Vaibhav’s breathtaking knock ended in heartbreak when an attempted upper cut off Hinge’s delivery resulted in a mistimed shot towards deep third, where he was safely caught, leaving the Royals in a strong position at 125/1.
Rajasthan Royals eventually posted 243/8 - their highest score in IPL history.
