Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s native village of Tajpur in Bihar’s Samastipur district turned pink with pride as Rajasthan Royals’ teenage star returned home after a record-breaking Indian Premier League season.

Vaibhav’s homecoming was made special by his family and friends.

There were flower garlands, cheers from proud friends and a cake that read: ‘Welcome Home Boss Baby Vaibhav’.

Nicknamed ‘Boss Baby’ by broadcast commentators during the IPL 2025 season, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earned the moniker for his baby-faced charm and fearless performances on the biggest stage.

Only 14 years and 23 days old, Vaibhav announced his arrival in the IPL when he launched his first ball into the stands against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19.

Nine days later, Vaibhav smoked a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, becoming the youngest IPL centurion.

The knock was also the second-fastest IPL ton behind only ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle - another factor which inspired his ‘Boss Baby’ nickname.

Besides his historic 101 against GT, the youngster also capped off the campaign with a mature 57 off 33 balls against five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in what was the Royals’ final match of the season.

The string of performances also saw Vaibhav earn his spot in the Indian U19 cricket team for the upcoming tour of England.

The Indian team is set to play a warm-up match, five Youth ODIs, and two multi-day games against England U19 starting next month.

Last year, Vaibhav showcased his explosive batting with a 58-ball century for India U-19 against Australia in a youth Test - the fastest ever by an Indian in the format.
