Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made headlines again after smashing an unbeaten century for Bihar against Maharashtra in an Elite Group B Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The prodigious left-hander produced another top innings, scoring an unbeaten 61-ball 108 to power Bihar to 176/3 at the end of their 20 overs. It was also the teenager’s maiden ton in the T20 domestic cricket tournament and third overall in the format.
Vaibhav’s knock featured seven fours and just as many sixes and came at a stunning strike rate of 177.05. His ton also made him the youngest batter to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the age of 14 years and 250 days.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was retained by the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, took some time to get his eye in before smashing a six and a four in the fourth over off Jalaj Saxena to get his innings up and running.
Back-to-back fours off Yogesh Dongre at the start of the 13th over saw Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bring up his fifty from 34 balls.
After reaching his fifty, Vaibhav shifted gears, taking on Vicky Ostwal and Yogesh Dongre for a pair of towering sixes in the next two overs.
A couple of boundaries off RS Hangargekar in the penultimate over of the innings saw Vaibhav move to 98 before a maximum at the start of the final over saw him reach his hundred off 58 deliveries.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy century adds yet another landmark in what has been a remarkable breakthrough year for the youngster.
He made history as the youngest-ever IPL player at just 14 years and 23 days, debuting against the Lucknow Super Giants before stunning everyone nine days later by becoming the youngest centurion in the league’s history.
Vaibhav’s explosive 35-ball 100 against the Gujarat Titans was the fastest IPL century by an Indian and the second-fastest overall, only behind Chris Gayle.
He also scored a half-century against Chennai Super Kings and finished his debut IPL campaign with 252 runs scored at a sensational strike rate of 206.56.
Vaibhav then shone for the India U19 team on their tour of England, where he finished as the top scorer in the five-match Youth ODI series with 355 runs at an average of 71.00 and an astonishing strike rate of 174.01.
His blistering 143 in the fourth match of the series was the fastest century ever in U19 men’s ODIs and made him the youngest player to score a ton in the format’s history.
The explosive southpaw also slammed a century against the Australia U19 team in Brisbane in a Youth Test match in October.
Prior to his exploits for Bihar in SMAT 2025, Vaibhav had also produced a jaw-dropping innings in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, where he scored 144 off 42 balls for India A against UAE, smashing 11 fours and 15 sixes.
His 32-ball hundred made him the youngest player to score a century for any national representative side at senior level, breaking a two-decade-old record.
The 14-year-old has also been named in India’s squad for the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025, which starts in Dubai on December 12.
