Yashasvi Jaiswal’s quickfire century helped Mumbai pull off a record run chase against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 Super League Group B match at the DY Patil Academy in Pune on Sunday.

Set a daunting target of 235, the Mumbai cricket team rode on Jaiswal’s blistering 101 off 50 balls to clinch the contest with four wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare.

The knock marked Jaiswal’s fourth T20 century and helped Mumbai register their highest successful chase in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) history and the second-highest overall in the tournament.

Mumbai’s previous highest successful run chase in SMAT came last season against Andhra Pradesh when they chased down 229.

The 23-year-old Jaiswal, who has also scored two T20 centuries for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), dictated terms throughout the chase. His innings, laced with 16 boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 202.00, ensured Mumbai never felt the pressure of the asking rate.

Walking out with a towering target to chase down, Jaiswal wasted little time settling in and tore into the Haryana attack from the outset.

The early overs saw him latch onto anything overpitched or short, racing through the gears and bringing up his half-century in just 23 deliveries.

With Mumbai motoring past 100 inside seven overs, the contest was quickly spun away from Haryana as Jaiswal continued his rampage, bringing up his century in 48 balls.

Jaiswal departed on the first ball of the 18th over, but by then, the job was all but done, with Mumbai needing seven runs from 17 balls.

Named Player of the Match, Jaiswal’s latest masterclass further underlined his consistency in the shortest format. He has now amassed 3,667 runs in 120 T20 matches at an average of 33.64 and a strike rate of 152.66, alongside 23 half-centuries.

Earlier this year, Yashasvi Jaiswal was Rajasthan Royals’ top scorer in IPL 2025 with 559 runs from 14 matches. He also registered his first ODI ton for the Indian cricket team earlier this month against South Africa.
