Ahead of Rajasthan Royals’ final group game, Director of Cricket and Head Coach Kumar Sangakkara emphasised that the team is focused on winning every game it plays and does not get carried away by the resultant factors.

The Royals square up against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024 match at Guwahati on Sunday, the team’s final league game of the season.

While the Royals have qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs, they are not guaranteed a top-two spot. The top two teams in the points table will play Qualifier 1, the winner of which will directly make the final.

“We knew that we had qualified a couple of days ago, but that doesn't really affect us, we don't talk about qualification,” said Sangakkara in the pre-match press conference.

“We are just playing to win a game, and that is how we approach every game, there is no relaxation element there. Every game counts for various things and tomorrow’s game will count a lot for us as well.”

Though the Royals are on a four-match losing streak, Sangakkara chose to focus on the process than on the results and was happy with how the team prepared.

“Everyone is looking forward to playing every game. I can't fault the team for their effort or commitment, and they have really enjoyed playing with each other,” Sangakkara mentioned.

“And that's all we can do, results will come and go, but we have to give ourselves the best chance, in the way we prepare and make our decisions.

“There is no doubt in our mind that whatever we do we can do it well. We have enough ability to keep going and win games,” he concluded.
