Ravi Singh continued his rapid rise in domestic cricket with a composed 98 on his first-class debut, steering Railways to a strong first-innings position against Gujarat on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 Group C match in Nadiad on Friday.

The 24-year-old Ravi Singh, acquired by Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2026 auction, played with composure as he ground out 98 off 174 balls at the Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium.

On Thursday, Ravi built patiently after Railways found themselves in early trouble at 16/2 in reply to Gujarat’s modest first-innings total of 175.

Resuming the day unbeaten on 31, Ravi stitched a crucial 98-run partnership with Vivek Singh, stabilising the innings before Ravi added another 106 runs with skipper Bhargav Merai to wrest control from the hosts.

Railways crossed Gujarat’s mark comfortably, with Ravi eventually dismissed in the 68th over at 233/6, falling agonisingly short of a century on debut.

Ravi’s knock, studded with 11 fours and three sixes, came at a strike rate of 56.32 and underlined his ability to adapt seamlessly to the longer format after a productive white-ball season.
