A fusion of fearlessness, raw talent, and sheer destructiveness that can feast on any bowling line-up, Rajasthan Royals’ opening combination of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal is a pairing that doesn't just dominate the Indian Premier League but is a match made in cricketing heavens.

“He (Jaiswal) is so full of confidence!” Harsha Bhogle, one of the most respected voices in world cricket, said while commenting on Rajasthan Royals opening combination on Cricbuzz.

“At the other end, Jaiswal has got a grizzled veteran (in Buttler) of the white ball game, who post IPL 2023 has been in fantastic form himself…Buttler and Jaiswal together; one right and one left, one young and the other still as flamboyant, it’s a fabulous opening partnership,” Bhogle added.

But that's not all. Bhogle also made a bold prediction that Jaiswal might end up as the leading run-scorer this IPL. “I am quite game to nominate him (Jaiswal) as an early choice for the leading run-getter in IPL 2024.

“I saw Yashasvi Jaiswal very closely during the Test matches and at times I thought he was playing T20 cricket. He had hit (James) Anderson for three sixes in a row, he hit (Shoaib) Bashir for three sixes in a row…Last year he got 625 runs in the IPL striking at a 160-plus. He is the form of his life,” Bhogle added.

Jaiswal scored 712 runs in the recently concluded five-match India vs England Test series at an average of 89 and a strike rate of 79.91. He scored two double hundreds, became the youngest Indian to reach 1000 Test runs and was named Player of the Series.

Led by Buttler and Jaiswal at the top, Rajasthan Royals will open their campaign in the IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur on March 24. The inaugural champions will then play Delhi Capitals at the same venue on March 28.
