Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, both of whom represent Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, have been named in the South Africa squad for the Proteas’ upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.
The 16-member squad will travel to Bulawayo for matches at the Queen Sports Club from June 28 to July 10.
The series will mark South Africa’s first red-ball outing since the ICC World Test Championship Final.
Maphaka, 19, made his Test debut earlier this year against Pakistan, returning figures of 2/43 and 1/47 in Newlands.
He became South Africa’s youngest men’s ODI debutant last December, aged 18 years and 255 days, and made an immediate impact with a four-wicket haul against Pakistan.

The performance placed him alongside greats like Allan Donald and Shaun Pollock as one of only nine South Africans to claim four wickets on ODI debut.
He made his T20I debut against the West Indies in August 2024 at the age of 18 years and 137 days.
The talented pacer played two matches for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. Against the Punjab Kings, he dismissed Mitchell Owen for a duck to give the Rajasthan Royals an early breakthrough.
Also included in the squad is 19-year-old batting prodigy Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who has earned his maiden Test call-up. He has been a revelation in first-class cricket, scoring three centuries in just six matches and averaging 65.57.
Pretorius was named as a replacement for injured Nitish Rana in the Rajasthan Royals squad in IPL 2025. He was South Africa’s top run-scorer at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2024.
