Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is all set to join Kent in his maiden tryst with county cricket, it was announced on Wednesday.

Yuzi will be available for the club's remaining championship games including two home matches against Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, and an away fixture against Somerset, subject to regulatory approval.

“We’re delighted to have secured a spinner of Yuzvendra’s quality for the last three Championship matches of the season. He is really looking forward to playing in English conditions and will bring a significant amount of skill and international experience to our squad”, Kent's Director of Cricket Paul Downton said.

The Royals spinner has played 33 first-class matches so far, picking up 87 wickets in his domestic career. In the IPL 2023 season, Chahal became the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, playing for the Rajasthan Royals. He was also the Purple Cap winner in the 2022 edition, his first with the franchise.

“This is an exciting challenge for me, playing in English county cricket, and one I’m very much looking forward to,” Chahal was quoted as per the official Kent Cricket website.
