Jofra Archer is set to don the England whites once again after being named in the 16-member squad for the five-match Ashes 2025-26 Test series against Australia, starting November 21 in Perth.

This will be Archer’s first Ashes appearance since his breakout campaign in 2019. The speedster made an instant mark then, most memorably with his career-best 6/45 at Headingley, and finished the series with 22 wickets from four matches at an average of 20.27.

Now 30, Archer recently brought up his 50th Test wicket during England’s home series against India.

At Lord’s - the ground where he made his Ashes debut six years ago - he produced a match-winning spell of 5/107 and also sparked a dramatic Indian collapse on the final day in a tense chase of 193. It was Archer’s first Test match in four years.

Archer has also been in great form in white-ball cricket. He starred in England’s record-breaking win over South Africa earlier this month, where his fiery spell of 4/18 headlined a dominant display.

Across the three-match ODI series, Archer finished as the joint leading wicket-taker with eight scalps at an average of 11 and an economy of 3.66. He was also named Player of the Match in the third and final ODI.

Before the Ashes, Archer will also be in action on England’s white-ball tour of New Zealand. He has been included in the ODI squad led by Harry Brook, with the series beginning on October 26 in Mount Maunganui. Archer has picked up 62 ODI wickets at an average of 24.33 from 34 matches.

Archer also underlined his T20 credentials earlier this year in the IPL, finishing as Rajasthan Royals’ joint-highest wicket-taker with 11 scalps in the 2025 season.
