In a first, the IPL auction is set to be held outside India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the date and venue for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction. The event will be held on December 19 in Dubai, with as many as 1,166 players having registered their names, as per a report in Cricbuzz. 

 

 

The IPL 2024 auction sees some of the biggest names being registered, including recently-crowned World Cup winners Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Travis Head. Upcoming New Zealand star Rachin Ravindra has also submitted his name for the first time in the IPL, along with Kiwi teammate Daryl Mitchell, who has previously represented Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Of the 1000+ players who have registered, 830 are Indians, while 336 are overseas players. It is understood that Jofra Archer, who was released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction, has not enrolled in the IPL this time around. 

The final schedule for IPL 2024 is yet to be confirmed by the BCCI, given the mega tournament is expected to clash with the general eletctions at the same time.
