Royals captain Sanju Samson returns to Team India's T20I squad, alongside teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Avesh Khan as India gear up to face Afghanistan in a 3-match T20I series.

The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) on Sunday announced the Indian squad that also sees two big comebacks in Rohit Sharma, who returns as captain, and Virat Kohli, both set to appear for India in the shortest format after a year-long gap.

Sanju last featured in India's T20I tour of Ireland in August 2023, while Yashasvi was part of the recently concluded series against South Africa. Avesh Khan was also seen in action of late, featuring in the series against Australia last month. 

This will be India's last T20I series before the much-anticipated ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 kicks off in the USA and the West Indies on June 1.
