India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal on Wednesday broke into the Top 10 of the ICC Rankings, taking the 6th spot in the Men's T20I category for batters. Jaiswal is currently part of India's T20I squad for the 3-match series against Afghanistan.
The Royals opener jumped seven places from his current ranking thanks to his recent performances in the shortest format, which include a half-century in each of his last two series, against South Africa and Australia and a match-winning fifty in the ongoing one against Afghanistan. Yashasvi's 34-ball 68 in the second T20I at Indore propelled India to a defining victory that helped them take an unassailable series lead. This is Jaiswal's career-best position in the ICC T20I rankings yet.

The 22-year-old opener has displayed remarkable promise and consistency, ever since making his T20I debut for India in August 2023. In 16 T20I innings so far, he has already scored nearly 500 runs at an encouraging average of 35.57. Having excelled on the IPL stage with Rajasthan Royals for the past few years, it didn't take Jaiswal too long to make an impression at the international level. At the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China last year, he smashed a record hundred that helped India qualify for the semi-finals and played a crucial role in the team's finish as gold medallists.
