When two giants of Test cricket go up against each other, be rest assured that the battle will be really closely contested. Rahul Dravid & Sachin Tendulkar have been retried for years from Test cricket, but their fans still have memories of the duo batting, fresh in their mind. Wisden India recently put out a Facebook poll on the greatest Indian Test batsman.

The polls started with 16 batsmen from varying eras. It came down to the semi-finals with former Rajasthan Royals skipper, Dravid up against the Little Master Sunil Gavaskar, while Tendulkar was up against Virat Kohli. It all came down to the back-bone of the Indian cricket team in the late 90s, and 2000s – Dravid vs Tendulkar.

In the final, Tendulkar fans got off the blocks early, emulating their idol’s batting talents. Dravid was trailing at 42% a couple of days before the poll was to end. However, the Wall fans turned up at the right time and got him into the lead towards the close of play. The Royals legend finished with 52% of the 11,400 votes cast. There was a battle for the third place as well. Gavaskar secured the spot after another closely fought vote-battle.

Tendulkar and Dravid have both played several remarkable knocks for Team India over the years. The former holds the record for the most runs in Test cricket, with 15,921 runs. Dravid is fourth on the list with 13,288 runs. Both had pretty similar averages in the format as well. Reminiscing them face some tough opponents in Tests makes us want to go back and watch some of those epic knocks around the world. We recommend the same to you as well.
