Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals players

Though in a losing cause, Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal shone brightly in the Royals’ chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game. Both came together at the centre when the Royals were in a spot of bother at 1/2, after losing in-form Samson and Jos Buttler.

But the young guns showed great maturity and counter-attacking instincts to add 134 runs in just 13 overs, the best in this IPL for the third wicket, to put the Royals back on track. The 22-year-old Parag scored his fourth half-century in IPL 2024 en route to making 77 off just 49 balls.

Parag was the top-scorer in the last match against the Sunrisers hitting four sixes and eight fours. He was also the top-scorer in the Royals’ first match against Delhi Capitals earlier this season, notching up his highest individual score in the IPL with an unbeaten 84.

Whereas the left-handed Jaiswal made 67 off 40 balls, which had seven boundaries and two maximums. After a slow start to the season, Jaiswal signalled his return to form with a second score of fifty-plus in the last three matches.

Rovman Powell, in his role as a finisher almost did the job for the Royals with a quickfire 27 off 15 balls with three fours and a six. He also played a crucial role in two of the Royals’ previous matches this season, with match-winning cameos against Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Jos Buttler with 394 runs from 12 matches is the top run-getter against Delhi Capitals in the current Royals squad. He has two fifties and a century against DC, averages 35.80, and strikes at 161.50 against them. Whereas skipper Sanju Samson is the Royals’ top-scorer in IPL matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium with 427 runs.

The Royals’ bowling unit was able to keep the Sunrisers’ big hitters quiet in the initial phase as they conceded just 37 runs and picked up two wickets in the powerplay. Rajasthan Royals have the best economy rate among teams in the first six overs of IPL 2024 conceding only 7.8 runs an over on an average.

Avesh Khan sent back both openers before finishing with 2/39 whereas Sandeep Sharma was the most economical bowler of the night giving away only 31 runs in his four overs and picking up a wicket.

Ravichandran Ashwin with 24 wickets from 22 matches is the highest wicket-taker in the current Royals’ squad against Delhi Capitals and Trent Boult is the most successful Royals bowler at this venue scalping 16 wickets from 11 matches.
