~ The college team will now represent India in the world finals of this global T20 college cricket tournament~ ~~ The only global cricket tournament especially developed for university students in association with IPL team Rajasthan Royals~ ~ Rajasthan Royals scouted talent from RBCC 2019 and will offer them a trial for the first team~ ~ 352 colleges across 30 cities competed for the national championship of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019~ After 4 days of intense matches, Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019 National Finals comes to an astonishing end. DAV College Chandigarh beat Hindustan College Chennai in an exciting low scoring final to emerge the India Champions of the prestigious T20 tournament, which commenced with the city qualifiers from 3rd Feb to March 12th. DAV College Chandigarh will be representing India in the world finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket later this year. Two regional finals were held in each zone, and winners of each regional final competed at the Red Bull Campus Cricket India final that was held in Jaipur from 13th May to 17th May 2019. It commenced with 8 college teams from across the four different zones in the qualifier round. Red Bull athlete and number one ranked ODI batswoman Smriti Mandhana, Head Coach Paddy Upton, Batting Coach Amol Muzumdar, Bowling Coach Sairaj Bahutale and young talented batsman Riyan Parag from Rajasthan Royals were present at the National Finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket. They were accompanied by top cricket commentator Suhail Chandhok, who also hosted the press conference. Rajasthan Royals scouts were present at the National finals and had a key eye on a few selected players. These selected players will now get a spectacular opportunity to be a part of the trials conducted by the team along with the possibility of getting picked in the next IPL auctions. The league rounds of Red Bull Campus Cricket National finals took place at Jaipuria Cricket Academy and KL Saini Ground from 13th May to 15th May 2019. Red Bull Athlete, Smriti Mandhana said, “I am so excited to be here. Red Bull Campus Cricket (RBCC) is one such tournament that has given us players like KL Rahul, Karun Nair & Niroshan Dickwella amongst others. We are sure to find many more in this tournament and for the years to come. I wish all the participating teams good luck!” Paddy Upton, Head Coach Rajasthan Royals commented, “This association is an apt way to discover raw talents while testing them in different matches at the national level and finally pitching them into international games to polish these talented individuals and bringing the best out of them. I am happy to be here and look forward to the matches.” Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals Batsman said,” In India, the love and passion for cricket is incomparable to any other sport and I am happy that Red Bull is taking such initiatives and giving the much needed wings to dreams of young cricketers. We congratulate all participants and wish them well for their future.” DAV College Chandigarh reached the finals by beating Alfala University Delhi whereas Hindustan College Chennai beat MMCC Pune to get through to the finals. Score: Hindustan College Chennai 122/9 (20 overs) MMCC Pune 81/10 (20 overs) Result: Hindustan College Chennai beat MMCC Pune by 41 runs Man of the Match – Harish N.S from Hindustan College for picking up 4 wickets Semi Finals 2: DAV Chandigarh vs Alfala College Delhi Venue: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur Toss: DAV Chandigarh won the Toss and chose to bat first Scores: DAV Chandigarh- 129/7 (20 overs); Alfala University Delhi- 127/8 (20 overs) DAV Chandigarh won the match by 1 run Man of the Match – Gurnoor Brar for picking up 3 wickets Match Report of Finals: Venue: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur Toss- DAV College won the toss and chose to bowl first Innings Score Hindustan College Chennai- 108/9 (20 overs) DAV College Chandigarh- 109/5 (19.2 overs) DAV College Chandigarh beat Hindustan College Chennai to win the Red Bull Campus Cricket National Finals Man of the Match – Gurnoor Brar from DAV College Chandigarh for picking up 3 wickets for 16 runs of his 4 overs Best Bowler of the tournament – Dev Yadav captain of DAV College Chandigarh won the best bowler of the tournament award for picking up 10 wickets Best Batsman of the tournament – Akhil Kumar from DAV College Chandigarh won the best batsman of the tournament award for scoring 198 runs Player of the tournament – Shahrukh Khan from Hindustan College Chennai won player of the tournament award for an excellent all round showing. He scored 182 runs and picked up 8 wickets as well. Having previously won the National Finals in 2013, DAV College Chandigarh will once again represent India at the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals in UAE in November this year.
