Rajasthan Royals teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s fearless approach in IPL 2026 has now won over Australia captain Pat Cummins, who is also regarded as one of the world’s premier fast bowlers.

On Saturday against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed several records with a breathtaking 103 off just 37 balls, leaving the opposition skipper awestruck.

“I think he’s my new favourite player. He hits the ball so hard, it’s great to watch. It’s good fun,” Cummins, who led Australia to the 2023 ODI World Cup title, said after the match.

With 12 maximums on Saturday, Sooryavanshi broke the record for the most sixes by an Indian in an IPL innings, eclipsing the previous record of 11, first set by Murali Vijay in 2010 and matched by Sooryavanshi against the Gujarat Titans in 2025.

He also brought up his century on Saturday in just 36 balls, making it the third-fastest hundred in IPL history.

Cummins highlighted the challenge of bowling to the youngster, underlining the minimal room for error.

“You have to be right on the money as a bowler. If you are not, it’s going a long way. It’s impressive. Vaibhav has had a great start to his career, and yeah, I like the way he plays. Takes the game on,” he added.

Facing Cummins for the first time in the match, Sooryavanshi launched the very first ball he encountered from the Australian for a six.

Targeting premier bowlers has been a defining theme for Sooryavanshi in IPL 2026. Whether it is Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood or Cummins himself, Sooryavanshi has taken on elite fast bowlers without hesitation.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been RR’s top run-scorer in IPL 2026 so far, accumulating 357 runs in eight matches at an average of 44.63 and a strike rate of 234.86.

The 15-year-old southpaw has already slammed three 15-ball fifties this season against Chennai Super Kings, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The third was converted into a century.

Rajasthan Royals’ next match in IPL 2026 will be against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
